Chapter 19- Antenna and rear wiper delete.

I did my first antenna delete on Kate's car. I don't have a whole lot of pics of hers, but it wasn't exactly done the "proper" way anyway. I basically filled the hole with a dense fibeglass filler, then regular plastic filler to finish it out. I did use a little of the flexible parts repair stuff on it, but it has still shown evidence of waviness and lifting in certain parts of the repair over the years. I will be fixing it and doing the rear wiper delete as well as fix some other flaws this spring and add a nice writeup about it then....

Until then, I do have some pics from when I did Slowquest's antenna and rear wiper delete the right way. These mods are actually very simple.

First the rear wiper delete:

I started by removing the wiper assembly. I had some spare pieces of plastic from another mod and basically ground a step around the wiper recess that was slightly thicker than my plastic pieces...

that way I could glue in the plastic pieces I had with some flexible parts repair/adhesive, and it would kinda sit in there a little recessed from the surface...

That got  some finishing fillers...

And was good to go after some priming.

Next was the antenna delete:

I used the same principles and the rear wiper delete. Ground a step in the antenna hole and ground the hump on the side away...

Then I glued a piece of plastic with flexible parts repair/adhesive in to cap off the antenna hole...

..and used more of the flexible stuff to fill the voids on top and the side...

After that it got smoothed out and a little finishing filler on top...

A little filler primer and it was ready for paint....
